Many of us have busy lives. There’s work, the kids, homework, dinner, housework, budgeting and the list goes on! It’s making me tired just thinking about it. Lately I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed with everything that has to be done around the house and thought it was time I did something about it. I absolutely HATE feeling overwhelmed. I really do need to be in control of my environment and to know what is coming next. When it all starts spiraling I start to panic.

I realised that as soon as I started to do something for myself each day, something I loved doing (except for the usual loves like spending time with the kids) my life seemed so much more organised and I started to feel in control again.  That’s the only thing I changed. So my attitude, after doing something I loved doing and finding room for “me time” had a dramatic effect on how I perceived certain situations.

My list of things I love doing for “me time” include organising, sewing, gardening, crafting, trialing new recipes, cake decorating and running (especially outdoors). Try it for yourself. Make a list of the things you LOVE to do and make time for one of them every day. If it is going for a run or walking the dog, get up a bit earlier. If it is doing Yoga, make time for that class or buy a DVD.  If it is meditating, set up a quiet area at a certain time every day so it becomes habit.

My biggest thing I have learned from this is that when I feel like I have done something for myself for the day, everyone else in the household gets my full attention.

Do something for yourself Every Day! Your mind and your body will thank you.
